Green with Envy

Published by lolly at 4:59 pm under General Life

Everyone and there mother is working on socks right now (or so it seems) so, I joined the pack, and picked up the DPNs once again. Mind you, I am not an expert in this field, and have been known to sigh with frustration, and even slam those little buggers down on the table… but I perservered, and started working up this little doll:

*Green with Envy Socks*

The yarn is Reynolds Swizzle in Forest. It is self-striping, it looks pretty decent so far. I think that they might be a little slouchy when they are done, which is not a bad thing… they just appear to be a little big on the needles. I needed a small portable project for the train, and this really fits the bill. The socks were started yesterday in the few spare minutes I had (my hands were dying to knit). This semester is looking crazier by the day, and I honestly hope that I am able to keep up the knitting.Â

Carnivale est fini! I am planning to block it to get some more length out of it… there was only one more skein of this colorway left at FASC last weekend, so I did not have another option. If I had known this earlier, I would have used larger needles (I used 7s) or made it thinner. However, I think it turned out pretty good. It is definitely warm, and will be nice to wrap around my neck when all the snow comes to Maryland (let it snow! let it snow! let it snow!) and the colors will brighten up any gray day. I can wear it as a neck warmer/scarf, or as a little wrap, with a pin or brooch to secure it.

BLOGLANDIA HAPPENINGS–Things that I saw and didn’t want you to miss!

  • Jenna recently updated her travel blog, http://jennainindia.blogspot.com, and it sounds like things are going swell for her. She is teaching women how to knit so that they can start their own business. Go send her some love when you get a chance.
  • Tami just finished a lovely Weasley sweater, and it looks perfect on her! Great work, Tami!
  • Gina did some dyeing recently, and the stuff turned out amazingly beautiful! Also see her adorable baby knits from SnB Nation.
  • Amy is just so hot with her new cashmere neck warmer. I love this design!
  • Megan’s got a brand new blog! Princess Papaya = Fruity Chick!
  • Shobhana is working on some great socks! She is so talented!

I love finding new knitting blogs, and seeing new projects, so if you have one to share, drop me a line! :)

And… another yummy foretaste of what is to come… Interweave Knits Spring 2005 preview came out!! *drool*

Word.

The scarf looks great! I love the colors.

I know, I think a ton of people are working on socks too. I guess it is the instant gratification of knitting socks, and the fact we have all been working on projects for others. And, the sockapalooza probably has something to do with it too!

Beautiful scarf Lauren! Thank you so much for your comments! I love the looks of this new page!

    Lauren,
You mentioned checking out your local Hancock Fabrics in your comment on my site-don’t get too excited-my local one is very good for sewing basics and buttons, etc-for yarn they only carry LB products and that goes for notions too, with the exception of some clover bamboo needles…so, it’s not great but it is the only place here in town and when you get a gift card, you gotta use it, kwim? plus they do have the dyeable fisherman’s wool! anyway, have fun!
