Above and Beyond
Question: How do you know that your LYS is the best?
Answer: They open it just for you and your five friends!!

Lolly, Heather, Nicole, Eilene, and Donna
Picture credits: None other than Miss Froggy herself!
Kathy is the coolest. Period. I called her up a few weeks ago and asked her about Presidents’ Day weekend. They are usually closed on Mondays, but I was hoping… just maybe… that we could still come in. She said: "For you, YES!" Is that not the coolest thing? So, of course, we made a whole day of it! Froggy drove for an hour to come and meet us for some yummy Chinese food, and some hot knitting action.

You may notice that Froggy is not around in the pics… let me say it is not for lack of trying! She is a dodger
But here is her knitting bag! Proof that she was there with us!
As you can imagine, it is pretty hard to make a decision in this wonderful place… when you have yarns that look like this (and this and this) in your face, how can you choose? Well, there was a definite "fondling frenzy"… but I came away with some lovely enhancements:
10 balls of Dale Svale, 2 hanks of Knit One Crochet Too Tartalette, and one ball of Dale Baby Ull
If you are thinking that I am addicted to Dalegarn, you may be right. I got the Svale to make a summer top, probably one of these. Pretty.

Alas, Lolly had more fun this weekend… like going out for yummy Indian food with sisters and friends! then going bowling! (I can’t even remember the last time I did it… but I actually had fun!) I was winning too, until crazy Tracy decided to get strikes for the rest of the night! and Kris was really enjoying himself as well… step back, he’s mine! |
By pure coincidence, both of my sisters wore scarves that I made them!

Sunday was definitely not as fun as Saturday and Monday… I spent the day very sick with a virus, or something. 100% better today though!

Knitting progress reports to follow… now to watch a little Jack Bauer…

WOW! sounds like y’all had a wonderful day!!
WOW! Looks like you gals had a great time! Wish I lived nearby so I could join in your fun… Poor Lolly for being sick on Sunday: that is the pits. Glad too hear you’re feeling better & that it didn’t ruin your knitty-Monday!
does that look like a great day or what! your sisters look so cute in their scarves.
What a fun day
I love Mimi’s scarf. It is just SO CUTE!
That bugger is a nasty one – but it really only lasts 24 hours. We’re not allowed to watch Jack in our house. We have to store up all the episodes on the new DVD recorder so we can take fifteen episodes on vacation. But while were taping last night, we sped past and somehow stopped right on the channel – and who did we see? I can’t believe he’s back – and I can’t believe I can’t watch it!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I want your LYS! So lucky!
Wow your pics turned out great! didnt we have a great time? Thank you so much for organizing it!
I was totally drooling all over Donna’s Mariah! I still can’t believe that is Calmer!
love h
It looks like you guys had a lot of fun. I love this community!
Could you please ask them to open a store in IN?
oh, i’ve been itching to hear about the weekend ever since you posted that teaser! and you didn’t disappoint — sounds like loads of fun. cool knitters, good food, great lys, lovely yarn, and bowling… woo hoo!
What a fun long weekend you had! That Dale Svale is awesome. I made a tank out of it and I love it! And you went bowling which I’ve been dying to do! Maybe I can talk D into it! Take care!
Looks like so much fun- I wish there was a store that carried Dalegarn around here, I’m so tempted to try it. And how cool that you got to play with the infamous Froggy!
I wish I had your weekend
. Looks like you had lots ‘o fun.
Hey Girl,
Had sooo much fun yesterday! I’m so glad that you were able to make some stash acquisitions! ~D
wow – they usually only open stores on closed days for celebrities. you are a star! i love the yarn you got – that green variegated stuff is so springy and alive – i love it!
sorry about the virus – glad it’s gone. i hope you continue to feel better!
Glad you’re feeling better!
I am also a lover of Dalegarn… but none of my LYSs carry it anymore. It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who carries the torch for Dale! (My argyle vest is made of Tiur… dreamy soft.)
That’s pretty freakin’ awesome that you had the store opened just for you!
It was nice to meet you and Kris Saturday night. Yes, that Indian food was yummy, even if we did have to wait an hour and a half for our food. I think he was afraid of our table. Did you notice all the other restaurant customers staring? Next time we’ll go to the Prince Cafe for some hookah.
Lolly…your pics turned great. What a fabulous time we had!!! I can’t wait to do it again!
I love bowling. Maybe we can all do that sometime. I really miss it.
Take care!

Hi Lolly,
What customer service. You must be a SERIOUS shopper at that store. Are you one of those people with SABLE…stash accumulated beyond life expectancy? (I found a list of knitting acronyms, thought I’d try one out)
Amy
You all looked like you had a great time. Do a group of you meet there regularly to knit? I would love to come out some time.
