Don’t You Forget About Me

Published by lolly at 8:01 am under Tempting

Well, I heard you all saying "keep on keeping on", and I listened… I have made some nice headway with my Tempting. Very mindless knit (well, sometimes so mindless that I have to go back and fix my mismatched rib… I have said it before, and I will say it again… ribbing is not always for her pleasure!) but great for the train, and for some TV knitting.

Tuesday night

Thursday morning

In the Pink Cathi and Almost Felted Lauren used cotton for their Temptings… I like this idea, and if the pattern goes well here on out, I might give that a try. However, I know that more DB Cashmerino Aran is in my future–I really like this yarn. I have had to frog several rows, and each time, it stays in tact and does not split. Grade A. Top Choice.

I completed another Dulaan Project scarf, so I have five now, with three others that I work on at various places in the house and in my purse. The numbers are really piling up–check out Ryan’s blog for the most up-to-date totals–they definitely underestimated the knitters!

Three big THANK YOUs going out to Suzanne, Kathy, and LeAnne! These lovely ladies have fabulous blogs that need to be checked out right this minute (GO!). Check out the mail I got from them! Thank you thank you thank you!

Suzanne sent me a pattern for an adorable felted purse, Kathy sent some AWESOME vintage pins from her collection, and LeAnne sent two balls of Rowan Calmer and a felt needle case… Thanks so much, ladies!

We had a nice Easter holiday with our families. Unfortunately, the weather outside was quite bad, so we had to move the niece’s Easter egg hunt indoors–they did not seem to mind.

Krista and McKayla with Easter baskets

We managed to get the girls to sit still long enough to snap some shots with their Uncle Kris and Auntie Lauren… they were off again after the pics :)

I am being forced to take a short knitblogging sabbatical… I have this hugenormous paper to work on for my Archives class, and I spend WAY too much time in front of the computer blogging and looking at blogs. So, after I finish this paper (or at least make a large dent in it) I will be back… hopefully no more than 7 to 14 days… I am going to keep on knitting (I truly would go insane without that) but this is something that I really have to do… I hate to say it. The Lucky Clover knitalong admin will still be happening, so you can still email me if you want in!

Don’t you forget about me… don’t don’t don’t …

Good luck with your paperwork and your class. I, for one will still be here when you get back. Tempting is looking lovely, by the way, what a great color.

By the way, I was surprised to find At Knit’s End yesterday, and it appeared to be their only copy, unless others were on reserve. It’s definitely worth the search.

I know you have been really busy with your school…I hope that you get everything you need to done, and I know I will see you because I know where you live! :)

I’ll chat with you later my lovely lauren dear.

PS tempting is awesome..that is your color!

    Mindless knitting, YAY!!!

  4. Erinon 31 Mar 2005 at 10:07 am

That calmer you were giving looks awfully suspicious. It looks just like the color that I tried to make Retro Prep out of when I realized it made me look like I wasn’t wearing anything!!! Totally cute nieces by the way! I only have nephews and while they’re still fun to knit for, I’d just love a neice to make a cute girly sweater for!

Good luck with your paper, you’ll be miss while you’re working on it!

  5. Caraon 31 Mar 2005 at 10:17 am

    Yeah for nieces!
Good luck with your paper - I’m not going anywhere - look me up when you get back from school island!

  6. Laurenon 31 Mar 2005 at 10:24 am

Once you get to the little sleeves of Tempting, it will start flying towards the finish line.
I know what you mean about the blog sabbatical. I feel that way sometimes too, but then I’m sitting at my computer, wanting a way to procrastinate, and voila: blog post.
I really want to go to MD, but Daniel is very opposed to the idea.

  7. Taraon 31 Mar 2005 at 10:50 am

Lolly, we could never forget about you!!! Good luck with your paper.

Tempting is looking great - can’t wait to see it all finished!

ah, archives paper.. eek, sound like my future in a month or so. however, you sound like a good student who’s *not* starting it the day before it’s due - go you! i’m sure it’ll be a great paper!

Good luck on your paper! I feel your pain, and I admire you for being able to stay away!!

Tempting is looking great. It makes you ready for something challenging when you get done. Ribbing can get a little old!

  10. Adelleon 31 Mar 2005 at 12:21 pm

I am also working on Tempting, and I am getting bored with the ribbing… 6″ and I keep measuring it ALL the time!

I will miss your updates, but admire your willpower. It looks like you’re winning the Tempting race- mine has been put aside in favor of a scarf for my mom that needs to be finished. Can’t wait for your update, to see all that magical knitting that you will have worked on!

Good luck on your paper, maybe you can figure out a way to write a paper and knit at the same time, if you figure that out, please let me know, this could be beneficial to many of us knitterstudents :)

  19. Jessicaon 31 Mar 2005 at 7:12 pm

WOW - what a lovely bunch of gifts you were sent! Knitters can be SO GENEROUS can’t they? :-)
    Good luck with your pile-o-work!
I’ll meet you back here after mine’s done! :-)

  22. melanieon 01 Apr 2005 at 5:29 am

Don’t you worry, we won’t forget. Tempting is coming along nicely! I didn’t use cotton for mine, but an acrylic/wool blend and I’m quite happy with it. That said, I’m using the cashmerino aran for Andy’s socks and it is fantabulous - it will make a great Tempting. See ya on the flip side!

  23. Tamion 01 Apr 2005 at 6:36 am

Who could forget you? Not me. Good luck with your paper.

Did you catch the last episode of Carnival. I am sad it is over for the season. I am still in shock that Sofie shot Jonsey. What the heck. That show is so good. I hope they don’t make us wait a whole year for it to come back on.

  24. Colleenon 01 Apr 2005 at 7:08 am

I am a sucker for big all over ribbing - and a sucker for bright pink. Well done.

  25. Ginaon 01 Apr 2005 at 11:29 am

Incidentally, I don’t know if you saw this or not, but they are having a tempting knitalong for the curvaceous at http://temptingcurves.blogspot.com/.

good luck on the paper! give a holler when you get back. (I *AM* going to get to meet you at MDS&W, right??)

  41. Stacyon 14 Apr 2005 at 10:40 am

Your Tempting looks great! I made one of Cotton Ease and it came out huge. I must be a sucker for punishment because I’m wanting to make another in Cashmerino, and your color is the one I am wanting to do. It’s gorgeous! Have you decided on a ribbon color?

I’m using Brown Sheep Cotton Fine in Prairie Lupine for Lucky. It looks like you are using Rowan so it’s not the same yarn. But they do look very similar. I love the color!

  42. meganon 14 Apr 2005 at 11:46 pm

your knitting looks amazing — i hear ‘ya about how ribbing is not always for her pleasure. my yarn monster is also a ribbed girl.

i hope your paper is going well — best of luck!
