Mystery Solved

Published by lolly at 8:17 pm under Tempting

The Tempting mystery was quickly solved when I actually sat down with two finished sleeves and the body… and honestly, I feel pretty silly for not figuring it out on my own. However, a big thank you to you all for your encouraging emails and comments; and to those that have their completed Temptings, thanks so much for your advice! The sleeves are successfully attached, and I am working up the inches toward the eyelet. Before I know it, Tempting will be a mere memory! I plan to wear her to an event next Saturday, so I will definitely be done by then…

In anticipation of her completion, I ordered some ribbons today… I hope they will arrive in time to wear Saturday afternoon.

Come on, a girl needs some variety, right? They all reflective the many moods of Tempting… you never know what will come next! Heather and Carolyn tipped me off on this great supplier: JCaroline Creative. Not only are there great ribbons (so many to choose from!) there are supplies for making purses, accessory hardware (belt buckles and watch faces), and so many fabulous fabrics!

Last week, I was emailing back and forth with the very talented Jacqueline of Serendipity fame. We worked out a lovely little trade, and lo and behold a few days later a great package is on my door step from AUSTRALIA! That sure was fast… Yours will be on the way soon, J! Her lovely Jo Sharp tank really appealed to me, and she sent the new pattern book my way, along with some other amazing goodies! The little knitting mini book is full of great knitty quotes and pics, and the chocolates are delicious. Each of the bars has a cute Australian animal on it. So cute!

I pried myself away from the computer desk for a few hours this weekend to go and hear my sister perform. She is studying vocal performance at university, and every time I hear her, it brings tears to my eyes. My little Mimi is a beautiful songbird. I can’t believe that she is my sister when she is up there on that stage–it is so surreal, and so amazing.

It started raining after the show, but I had to get over to see a very special craft fair on the University of Maryland campus…. and meet some fellow bloggers!

I finally got to meet Kate and Paula! They spin and dye their yarns for their business, Woolarina.com. They also sell some awesome felted totes, stitch markers, felted sachets, notion tins, and magnets. These girls are so crafty and cool! It was a real pleasure to meet both of you… and I love your yarns!

Of course, I did not go home empty-handed. I was really loving their hand-dyed yarns (their handspuns are amazing as well!) and picked up these 5 skeins and a lavender sachet: 2 superwash sock yarns, 1 merino fingering weight, 1 merino worsted, and 1 merino/mohair blend. A closeup (and another, and another) are in order! Make sure to check out their site… 2 good 2 miss :)

This is my last week of classes, and the paper is due on Wednesday. After its completion, there are some other assignments and a final, but after that, I will be sailing smoothly into summer… until the next session’s classes start! (I am SO jealous of Nancy and Jessica graduating from library school this semester!)

Stay tuned for a finished Tempting… very very soon… (yeah, I said that last week, but this time I mean it!)

Reminder: Go let Cara know if you are coming to Maryland Sheep & Wool! She is compiling a list of the attendees on her sidebar for the knitblogger meetup on Saturday, May 7th.

…and in your copious free time, check out my new Links page (on my sidebar too). I plan to add some DIY/crafty sites as I find them, but in the meantime, check out the blogs–there are some great ones on my roll that really should not be missed. Go meet some new people today, I dare you :)

I’m loving the new Jo Sharp. There’s a cabled sweater in there that looks fantastic. Am I crazy to wish for cooler weather again? SHHH. Don’t tell any weather gods I said that!

I was having the SAME problems as you were with Tempting. Finally found some help on the Knitty and Craftster boards. Now that I have the sleeves attached, I am just WAITING for the 6″ of the yoke to finally get done. This was supposed to be a birthday present for someone at the end of this week. oops!

  12. Kathyon 25 Apr 2005 at 5:50 am

You and Cara came up with a great location! I e-mailed Stephanie and have heard nothing so far, so it’s good to have a more concrete place to meet.

I like the stripy ribbon best for Tempting, btw :)

Fab ribbons! Personally I love the second from the left. Do you have a fave, or will you pretend it is a Swatch and mix and match to your heart’s content?

  23. Monaon 26 Apr 2005 at 5:37 am

    Liebe Lauren,
yes, you are right, I enjoy meeting all of the girls in our fun group! Leider kann ich nicht nach Maryland zum Sheep&Wool Festival kommen - vielleicht nächstes Jahr?

Glad you’ve got Tempting figured out - the second ribbon on the left, the stripey one, is far my favourite to use. Ich weiß nicht if you really care about my 2 cents, aber ich dachte ich schreibe es trotzdem. Now all we need ist ein Foto. And, if you don’t understnad my Deutsch/English babble, let me know and I’ll stop.

  24. tonion 26 Apr 2005 at 6:21 am

Okay, you’ve given me some hope for tempting! I’m gonna keep on going with it!

  25. heatheron 26 Apr 2005 at 6:56 am

    hey L,

I have that green ribbon at home if you don’t get it in time. Swing by and I’ll hand it over!
I also have a nice contrasting pink…the credit goes to Donna..she told me about JCaroline!

Look at that yarn…sorry I missed it!

  26. Wandaon 26 Apr 2005 at 9:39 am

Ohh, you enabler you! Glad you got the Tempting sleeves joined to the body. Can’t wait to see the finished product and especially seeing it on! Love the ribbon choices. Now I’m going to have to check that out for when I finish mine and I didn’t know that Jo Sharp had two more books out Contemporary Knitting 1 and 2. I love J. Sharp. Now I will have to buy both of these books! Sigh.

Hi Lauren - I can’t wait to see Tempting finished, I heart your ribbons. I just popped a package in the mail to you today and I’m really hoping it gets to you by this weekend. Good luck with your last week of school!

    GIRL!
Sorry for the lag in my reply… firstly - BRING ON THE TEMPTING!
As i couldn’t seem to get into your site this weekend (failed everytime!), I posted my reply to your question on my blog in my Sat Entry.
I so wish I was coming to the Maryland fair…but I’ll be wrapping things up to jet back to China! Come to NYC! :-) (Of course I have to be home first.) Congrats on the classes nearing completion…when does the next round begin?
    Cheers & Hugs!

Hi there Lolly… Love the new yarn! It is soooo beautiful…. I am going to have to check out the woolarina web site! Thanks for your follow-up on my stitch crooked issues… I think I might have figured it out, but the true test will be once I start to knit something new in the round! It is going to be a bitch trying to permanantly change how I knit though! You rock!

  31. Peggyon 26 Apr 2005 at 6:03 pm

The dyed yarns look absolutely delicious! And the ribbons are very pretty too, maybe you can wear a different ribbon for each day of the week :)

  32. Megon 27 Apr 2005 at 4:59 am

    Hey Lauren :)
I love the handspun, it looks gorgeous and so soft!
I can’t wait to see you at MD S&W. I’m sorry I’m leaving because I’ve met a lot of great people here, but hey, it will give you an excuse to come up to NJ!

    Can’t wait to see tempting!
    Meg

PS - my last week of school is going well, how about yours? Tomorrow is my last day! I can’t believe it. How much longer do you have until you graduate?

  33. Beckyon 27 Apr 2005 at 6:42 am

Those ribbons are GREAT. My favorite is the chocolate one with polka dots. Can’t wait to see your finished Tempting!
