Sunday is my Funday

My sister is getting married in 20 days. I have not really had the chance to reflect on this because things have been so busy… I headed over to my parents’ house yesterday , and was able to talk to Daniel (Mimi’s fiance) on the phone (it was 3:00am in Hawaii), and helped my mom prepare some food for a bridal shower for Mimi. It turned into a lovely spring day which was perfect weather for the shower. Mimi came away with some lovely gifts and we had a very fun time. I got some cute pics: this one of Mimi and me is a favorite, as well as the one of Mom and Sarah.

After the shower, I hung out with Mimi’s friend and fellow bridesmaid, Katy, trying to find some shoes for the wedding. No luck. We hit some usual spots and the selection was highly picked over and not right. I need to find something soon. I love having an excuse to shop for shoes… I am planning to shop around with Mom this week in search of the perfect shoes for the bridesmaid’s dress.

My dad just returned from a trip to Argentina. He goes to South America several times a year and he always brings me back some great fibery souvenirs. One of these days, I want to tag along on one of the trips…
Socks knit from llama wool with llamas on them! And an alpaca wrap (silky threads woven throughout) modeled here. Thanks Dad!

Later in the afternoon, mom and I "stamped it up" with some napkins for the wedding reception’s cake table. My mom is a super crafty lady, and she is a lot better than me at the stamping… but she let me help anyway. I had to go through several trial runs to get some ones that were pretty enough to use.
This is one of the ones I am not embarassed to show…Â

I watched two great movies in the past few days: Motorcycle Diaries, and Stage Beauty. Both were beautiful and thought-provoking. While watching, I was able to finish up the sleeve and start on the final sleeve of Kris’s pullover. This will be ready to debut very soon… possibly tomorrow.

I got my order from KnitPicks: 13 skeins of KnitPicks Andean Silk in Lettuce, 2 skeins of Sock Garden in Geranium. I also picked up a new blocking board from JoAnn, 40% off, baby.

I wish you all a lovely Sunday :) We are going to Wine in the Woods soon… yum.

Okay – all of the cool festivals seem to be in Maryland! Maybe I need to move.. LOL. Although, I’m really not that far – I must learn to plan better. ‘Wine in the Woods’..not that looks fun :) Have you used the Andean Silk before? I really want to try it.

  25. Laura

Your dad is the best! What neat stuff he brought you. Weddings are so much fun. I was in my best friends wedding two summers ago. Her reception was in her parents backyard. We had such a great time with the decorations. I wish all the best for your sister!

How you like your yarn from Knit Picks?? A friend gave me her catologue and I’m tempted to order from them, but I like being able to feel my yarn before buying it & I’m nervous it’s going to be too scratchy.
