True Blue

Published by lolly at 4:29 pm under Denim Pullover, Rhapsody in Blue

Yesterday when I was with dear Donna, we talked about our affinity for blue. Yeah, most of my knits are in the pink/purple color family, but I took a look at my stash and saw the lovely blue yarns that I have collected in reserve for some great projects in the future…

…and right now, I am finishing up Kris’s blue pullover. This sleeve has another 9 inches left until I am ready to block and seam it. I will be so happy to have this one out of my stash–it has been lingering way too long.

The Bernat Denim Style is a good yarn. I saw someone sub it for Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim Aran and it was a close match and much cheaper as a whole. I know that this pullover is going to be too big for Kris. I am hoping that it will shrink a little in the wash and be a better fit. I should have made the smaller size… can’t wait to be done with this one.

… and when you dig a little deeper into the knitting bag…

… you find my Cotton Ease pullover in Candy Blue. This will probably be one of the brightest things in my closet when I finish it, but gosh, I love this yarn. I just discovered it too, and now they are discontinuing it. Just my luck. I do plan another trip to JoAnn to stock up on some more.
These blue buttons were another gift from my dad after his South American trip. They are made with an amazing cobalt blue base and a mother of pearl face. I have to find the perfect cardigan to use these on–ideas? They are large buttons, so maybe only a one or two button cardi would be best, and the leftovers could be used on another project or in some jewelry…

Today was a wonderful day outside… see the blue sky!

How pretty! I keep looking at the yarn, trying to identify by fiber. I’m not that good though. I think I might cast on my Tempting tonight. Wish me luck!

I vaguely remember blue sky…you’ll have to come for a visit and bring some with you. ;)

    Those blue buttons are excellent!

Now, quit reading comments and go finish the pullover! ;)

Ahh yes…can’t go wrong with blue. But then again, it’s my fav color, so I may be a bit biased. ;)

I’m a blue and pink girl too! Those blue yarns are scrumptious and I think will bring out your beautiful eyes. Looking forward to see what they will end up as.

You’re so trendy - you know, don’t you, that blue is the new black? It’s also the only color I’m allowed to knit for my nephew. Love the buttons! I’m sorry I never got to knit with cotton ease - now it’s too late.

    Have a great day!

We defintely have the same taste in colors! Pink is by far my favorite but I knit a lot of blue and purple too. I have some minty green yarn here waiting to be worked with, and that’s a first for me. My coloring’s a lot like yours too. I have blonde hair and blue eyes and look pretty good in all these colors.

    I’m blue with envy.

  19. Taraon 18 May 2005 at 5:25 am

Wow, those yarns are gorgeous! Do you have Hollywood Knits? There’s a cute one-button cardigan in there.

Can’t wait to see your finished pullovers!

  20. heatheron 18 May 2005 at 5:54 am

I’m so blue I won’t be seeing you until next week! I love the blue stash! I hardly have any blue! :)

  21. Danion 18 May 2005 at 5:56 am

Blue is my favorite color! I love it love it! Though you wouldn’t quite be able to tell with all the green I am knitting with! GOod for you for finishing Kris’s sweater… I have a lingering baby blanket that is already a year in the making!

  22. Erinon 18 May 2005 at 6:07 am

Well it’s good to see all these blue colors haven’t affected your mood! And I didn’t know they were discontinuing cotton ease! Just when you think you’re safe with a reliable yarn, they take it away… what’s next? Wool ease!?!?!

  23. Katieon 18 May 2005 at 6:17 am

What lovely colors! I am crushing over those buttons too, how neatO!

  25. Annieon 18 May 2005 at 6:57 am

Those buttons are GORGEOUS. I’m curious to see what you’ll do with them. Lots of blue there, but I’ll have to admit I’m partial to pink, too.

  26. Chelseaon 18 May 2005 at 7:27 am

I forgot to add, my Joann’s doesn’t even HAVE the cotton-ease! All gone!

  27. tonion 18 May 2005 at 8:12 am

Oh, I love all of that blue! Pretty, pretty!

  30. Agneson 18 May 2005 at 12:47 pm

I swear I looked at that Cotton-Ease pattern too. I love the simple design … it is something I know I would wear every day. I suddenly have quite some blue yarns in my stash recently too … mostly sock yarns! Who doesn’t love the blue sky? ;)

  31. Eileneon 18 May 2005 at 2:39 pm

Now that’s a lot of blue! Those buttons your Dad got you are so pretty!

Can you believe I have never been to Wine in the Woods…I’ve lived in Columbia for almost 25 years. Jordan was there & said it was great. Looks like you guys had so much fun.

What a great photo of you & your sister in the previous post.

  32. iselon 18 May 2005 at 4:08 pm

I love your blue stash and those buttons…woooo…beautiful.

  33. Danielleon 18 May 2005 at 4:40 pm

I find that I tend to be attracted to water colors quite often. But when I reach to knit something it is in a color out of the blue.

You blue stash looks inviting. Its that earth tone we see so often we forget its an earth tone.
