Rhapsodical and Fair
![]() |
I dub thee "Rhapsody in Blue"! I got tired of calling this the Cotton-Ease pullover, or boatneck, or blue monster… so, Rhapsody it is. Her back is complete, and the sleeves are cast on. I chose to do them both at the same time, somehow convincing myself that this method is quicker. We’ll see about that… |
Balmoral’s sleeve was frogged for the fourteen hundredth time… I tried to cast on for it once more, but those first few rows on the DPNs are a doozy, so I gently placed them back in the bag for a time when I had more patience. My Trekking sock is also on the needles, but there has been very little progress.

After several weeks (months?) I was able to meet with Donna and Eilene for a Knit Nite. Heather just got home from her Cancun vacation (go see her great pics!) so she was not able to meet up with us last night… but soon! Donna and I stopped by Joann Fabric and picked up some crafty goodies (remnant fabric and cute table napkins for me), and we met Ei at a restaurant across the street. |
After some yummy food, a few drinkies, and a large bill, we headed over to a cafe for some knit time. Donna worked so diligently on her Lucky Clover, Eilene worked on her Olive cardi, and I stitched away on Rhapsody. We looked at books and magazines, drank some coffee, and had some great laughs…  mainly at the expense of the ugly knits in the mags and books we were flipping through.

We couldn’t really control our laughter and disgust when looking through the new Knitter’s magazine. It is awful–just believe me. Why waste the magazine production costs? (you have to see Caryn’s letter to the editor. Priceless!) and why in the world would they put the WORST pattern on the cover? |
Teva Durham’s new Loop-d-Loop is getting a lot of publicity on the blogs… so, I had to check it out myself. I ordered it earlier in the week online, and was able to look through it more thoroughly at the bookstore last night. My copy arrived in the mail this afternoon.

I picked up this Knitting Lessons at a rummage sale (it is a brand new copy). I had never heard of it, and I figured if it is about knitting, it couldn’t be too bad. Loop-d-Loop is an amazing book, no doubt about it. Ms. Durham has wonderful vision, and her designs really appeal to me. Her knowledge of color is phenomenal, and this book is destined to be one of my favorites for a long time. |
Here are some of the designs I like from the book… add them to the list… the ever-growing TO KNIT list…
Got some good DDR time in today–it is such fun! I need to do a lot more before my October Hawaii trip… I think dancing is the way to make the pounds go away… thanks for all of the comments on the DDR pics. It is a great game!Â
Have a lovely weekend, all.

I am quite envious….I am waiting for Amazon to deliver my loop-d-loop book….and in the meantime I keep seeing it appear on blogs everywhere!
What a fun knit nite!
Have good weekend L
Rhapsody In Blue - you could call her RIB for short!
Rhapsody looks lovely! I think it would be great to see you on the Metro knitting away. I have only seen a few knitters–and none that were too chatty.
have a fantastic long weekend!
hooray for loop-d-loop!!!! i love all those same patterns, if only i had lots of money and free time to knit them all!!!
i love the color of rhapsody in blue… it’s perfect!
have a great weekend, lolly!!!
I missed out! arrgh! i lurve my girls!
love blue! looks great.
can’t wait until sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been eyeing Loop-d-Loop for a while now. I’m hoping my library will get it.
Have a great weekend,
Amy
Aren’t Teva Durham’s patterns fun! I’ve gotten so jealous of everyone and their Cotton Ease I ended up buying some on ebay. I can’t wait to see how your pullover comes out, I remember liking that pattern when I saw it, it’s really cute. Thanks for the compliments on the sock!
Lolly! You girls have the most fun. That’s it, I’m moving to your corner of the world!
I love the picture of Ei and Donna laughing at the magazine.
I really want to get a copy of loop-d-loop, too. I’ve been an admirer of Teva Durham’s patterns (in IK, for example) and her sense of design. So far, from what I’ve seen, I *really* like that goldish tan collared cardi with the princess seams that you linked to.
It seems that Amazon.com has been aweful busy supplying copies of Loop-d-Loop to knit bloggers this week! I ordered mine a few days ago after drooling all over the copy at the local Borders.. its too fabulous for words. I can definitely see tons of Knit-alongs come out of this book.
Oh dear it looks as if another knitting book has just made my must have list. The patterns you link to in loop-d-loop are great. I really like the brown top.
Have a wonderful weekend with your soon not to be single sister!
take care
Tacha
Rhapsody is coming along! I think doing both sleeves would make it a bit easier since you won’t have that, “oh no, I have to make one of those all over again” metal block in your way.
I will have to check out that book.. I love the designs too! That green sweater is one I have had my eye on and had no idea where it came from, so thank you!
Oh, and while I am at it… the Trekking sock yarn you commented on is #100. I’ll have some pictures of the festival later this weekend. You have a good weekend too!
It looks like you guys had a great time! My little sister has seriously used Dance Dance Revolution to get into shape. It’s addictive, in a good way.
Sounds like you girls had some fun! I am so bad at DDR. It’s a lot harder than it looks!
You guys always have the best time! I can’t wait to see some of your knits from Loop-d-loop. I’m thinking of driving to the bookstore to see if they have it. I wanna see all the cool designs!
Looks like y’all had a great knit nite. I love that loop-d-loop book. I can’t wait to see what you make from it.
Ooh-de-ooh! I love the Loop D Loop book. Great designs and a great find. I can hardly wait to see the finished products.
that was a funny letter she wrote!!!! rhapsody in blue is looking sooooo good i love that color of cotton-ease.
You always have so much fun at your knit nights (and thanks for making me think I’m not going crazy when I look at the new knitter’s magazine and can find nothing I would remotely make!) Loop-D-Loop has such great designs and your rhapsody in blue is looking lovely!
Hey Lolly.
So much fun on Thursday! Looking forward to lots of knit nites this summer. Hope you had a good weekend.
xoxoDonna
You three ladies look great! It looks like you all really have a good time during your knit meetups. Someday, I have to make it to one if you’ll have me. I just gotta
You girls look like you had a great time! I wish I could find some knitting buddies to play with
…. I love the sweater from Loop-d-Loop shown in IK. Looks like a nice book!
You guys look like you had soo much fun! I love giggling with the girls :). I will have to check out that book. That cover shot is hideous.
Were y’all in college park? Hey yo, I’m in Arlington about 20 min away (OK, i would be driving FAST) - but I hope to get an invite to your next knit nite!!
