Get Started!

Let’s get this party started!

Kickin’ It LIVE!

Rainbow socks and red shoes to usher in the beginning of Project Spectrum! The day started off well with some great aqua aerobics, and then, I met up with my dear sister, Mimi for the afternoon. She is in town for the next month, and she is also a part of Project Spectrum, so we decided to do a little creating today…

Mimi’s first finished knit – a sash hair band and belt! She used Crystal Palace Deco Ribbon in Magenta (color 314) and knit straight garter stitch for the stretchy sash. Her knitting is so pretty and even, and she is ready to jump into different projects.

We stopped by the Yarn Garden in Annapolis looking for some baby blanket yarn; it was my first time to visit this yarn shop (my friend Donna used to work there!), and I was pleased with the selection I saw. They also had a large needlepoint and embroidery selection, which is something that I want to try during this six-month Project, so I will be making another trip.

We also stopped by the craft store where I picked up some basic paper supplies for the postcard swap. Then, it was back home to knit with sissy. Mimi cast on for a new red scarf that is a gift for her mother-in-law, and I started a simple vertical stripe scarf with the red and pink scraps, and Yarn of the Month Club samples from my stash.

I have enough scraps and samples in each color to make a scrap scarf for each color month through August. It will also be great to get the stash a little more organized without all of the little scraps lying around. Plus, there will be a scarf for each color of the rainbow!

More Project Spectrum crafts are on the way-I can’t wait to see what you have planned as well!

    LollyGirl,
I’m *IN* Project Spectrum for March to finish a pink shawl with the WI group and Spidey Web Lady. Love seeing all your pink stuff. Sue DeB, Somers, WI

How exciting that the project is starting! I’m digging through reds and pinks … and hey — I’m one of those annoying people who can’t remember when she’s already signed up for something — so I inadvertently signed up for the Project twice. Sorry!! If you get a chance you can fix it if you want, just thought I’d let you know.

I was looking over the colors for Project Spectrum again today and thought, “I don’t have any orange or yellow in my stash. What am I going to do?” So I started looking through my stash and realized that I have more than I thought. Then it dawned on me to post all of the yarn and fiber that I have in my stash for March. I plan on doing this each month. Sort of a way to keep track of what I have for each month. There is even some yarn that I’d forgotten I had.

when i look at your socks and red shoes, i think “wizard of oz”. you’ve done a nice job of inspiring lots of knitters to delve into their craft bins for yarn, fabric, and misc. my congrats to you! i on the other hand, do not have the attention span for such commitment. the day i join an-along, … i might be struck by lightning! in the meantime, i will work on discipline by knitting my sock mates ;)
