Easy As…

Easy As…

One…

Two…

Three!

All done, and I absolutely love it! I had plans to paint the bathroom orange for many months now, and as the whole Project Spectrum idea formulated in my mind, I thought it would be a fun project to take on in the month of April. Fortunately for us, the weekend was free, and the weather was *perfect*. We had a nice breeze going through the house and not a trace of paint fumes.

We bought Glidden Wispy Peach for the base color, and the stripes are painted in a discontinued color - Calendula - but the Marigold Blossom is pretty close.

The bathroom is small (a half-bath), so it was close quarters as Kris and I were taping the edges, painting, and marking the levels for the stripes. However, we were able to get the whole job done in less than a day. We even got new fixtures: lights, towel rack, and paper holder.

The theme was citrus colors - oranges, yellows, and greens. I am hoping to have the chance this month to add a little framed artwork to the walls in the form of a mosaic… we’ll see how far I get on that front. A few little decorations and accessories, and the bathroom was complete!

On Saturday, I also got to check out Jenna’s new apartment in the city. We had a great time catching up, thumbing through a great new book, and organizing her kitchen. As I was walking to her new place, I was taking in all of the great sights and sounds of DC, and I came upon the happiest house I have ever seen…

Yellow House + Orange Door!

When I got home from Jenna’s, I saw a package on the counter - when I saw the label, I was immediately floored. ANJO had sent another package - all yellow and orange themed! This girl is amazing. She has so much creativity and energy, and such a generous spirit.

Thank you so much Anjo for everything!!

The April Song Mix (all orange and yellow-themed titles! See her blog for more details), some crafty accessories, adorable little chicks, and some candy and modeling clay!

In closing, I really want to thank you all for being a part of Project Spectrum. I am inspired by you. I am grateful for you. Many thanks for helping this little idea "take root".

I leave you with my "little orange man", Rusty Cat. He is the mascot of April’s Project Spectrum at the Lolly house. See the excitement in his eyes? (I caught him mid-yawn! The picture is priceless!)

Gorgeous!!! Isn’t it amazing what a bit of color can do for our lives? I’d love to paint my house - it’s all white - but it’d be such a pain I’ll live vicariously through you. Great job!

  22. Jeanieon 04 Apr 2006 at 1:14 am

Lolly, the bathroom is adorable! Don’t you just hate that you can’t capture the entire bathroom in one pic due to the “smallness” of it? But it still looks fab and such a cheerful color scheme. You take project spectrum to a whole new level! Love the “happy” house and Rusty cat is to die for! Thanks for sharing!

  23. Barbon 04 Apr 2006 at 4:02 am

  31. Helenon 04 Apr 2006 at 8:55 am

Great colors in the bathroom! I’m seeing more of those colors on my job now; it’s a nice change from the traditional pale blues and greens I usually see.

  32. Betheon 04 Apr 2006 at 9:07 am

It looks fabulous and I absolutely LOVE it! It just might be enough to inspire me to do something with my nightmare of a bathroom. Thanks for the inspiration!

  38. Kathyon 04 Apr 2006 at 9:49 am

Yowsa! That’s one cheerful bathroom! The color scheme reminds me of our spare bedroom, where I keep most of my stash - it’s “Kraft Macaroni & Cheese” orange.

You don’t post nearly enough pet photos, you know. :)

  39. geniaon 04 Apr 2006 at 10:04 am

Your Rusty Cat looks like a GREAT character for children’s book. His purrfect “M” eye brows are most expressive!

My apartment doesn’t get much natural light (its one flaw), but I bet that yellow and orange would wake it up fast. Thanks for the photos and inspiration!
