Green Weekend

The threat of rain was upon us all weekend, but it did not come until late Sunday night… the weekend was rather beautiful!  Kris and I consumed ourselves with some lovely green activities.

How our garden grows!  Hanging baskets outline the new pond, and we potted some herbs and vegetables for our container garden. Also planted, though not pictured, are the main vegetable garden beds, and the raised herb garden.

The pond is working out very well, even without a pump. Kris planted some submersed water plants (from his aquariums) in the pond, and they will soon be at the surface.  Our backyard has transformed into a green sanctuary!

I took advantage of the lush green grass (before the puppies kill it off!) to showcase my favorite green shoes.

And I finished one of my Project Spectrum GREEN projects!

"Emerald" Tank
Pattern: Saunshine Jems Collection, "Ruby" Tank
Yarn: Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece (Holly Green)
Needles: Size US 8

Notes:  I made the torso longer than the pattern called for, but (as you can see from the photos) I still could have made it several inches longer.  The tank was a breeze to knit, and it was a fun and easy pattern.  I plan on making another version of this in the future, and when I do, I will tweak the sleeves a little and add a longer ribbing section to make them lay completely flat.  I chose to make a smaller size because cotton tends to stretch (often in weird ways) and because I want to be able to wear this garment as I continue to lose weight.  It is a little tight now, but I hope to be able to wear it as I continue.

Saun designed a great pattern, and I am eagerly anticipating more of her work!  She is very talented, and has a lot to offer, check out her patterns! I see a Diamonique in my future, and if I can get my "lace" act together, I would love to try one in her Sweet Tees line. Thank you, Saun, for the great support (she quickly responded to my email about the pattern!) and for your beautiful designs! :)

More news… Mother's Day, a new green project, and some long-overdue Project Spectrum updates.  Stay tuned!

Your Emerald Tank looks great! That shade of green looks lovely on you.

We did our planting this weekend, just some herbs and a few other plants in a container garden. I’m working on the Hedera socks from Knitty (in green, of course!) for Project Spectrum, but it remains to see if I can actually finish them this month.

Of course, since we planted this weekend, it is now cold and icky outside. Poor little plants.
