Pretend for a Moment…

Pretend it is still May.  Just rewind your brain back to Wednesday!

PS Green Anklets
Yarn: Sweet Georgia Yarns (from the Sweet Shop)
Needles: Size US 1 metal DPNs
Pattern: Basic stockinette anklet with heel and toe instructions from Nancy Bush’s Knitting Vintage Socks

While you are at it, pretend that these are better quality photos… my camera broke, and we had to use the crappy office digicam.  We ordered a new one and it should be here by Tuesday.  A weekend without a camera is not my cup of tea.

German heel detail – I love the little purl bumps on the edges.  The small things always make the difference!

Classic three-point French toe

I love these socks, and I love this yarn.  Beautiful saturated colors, and very nice variegation.  The yarn was handpainted by the talented Felicia at Sweet Georgia, and given to me last October (right after Socktoberfest!) by sweet Kira.  I was waiting to make something special with it, and when Project Spectrum rolled around, I knew that this yarn was meant to celebrate the green!  Too bad I missed the month (by a few days…) but I am very happy with the results.

Now, just to prove that I am wholly devoted to blues (for the next few weeks at least)… I started my Carla pullover.  The pattern is in the Rowan book It’s a Tape Thing (2004). There are several other patterns in this book that I want to make, remembering the good ol’ days with Kim Hargreaves!

And since I have no camera to capture any new photos, I dug through the archives to find some “never before seen” blue photos…

Blue Forget-Me-Nots - part of our wildflower garden last year

Jellyfish tank at the Waikiki Aqaurium – part of our Hawaii vacation last October

Blue fishnet socks and blue/brown shoes (one of my fave color combos – second only to pink and brown!)

More details about my weekend when I hear back from the official photographer ;)

Have a great Sunday!

such tiny and even stitches on the green socks! i like the ‘carla’ sweater. i don’t think i have any yarn appropriate for the sweater, because, you know, … because of the D-I-E-T. and i applaud slow … because i just realized that if i’m being indecisive about what stash yarn and project to work on, i might have to dig out something blue. :)

Oh I love those green socks. The color is fabulous!!! Sometimes simple socks looks the best too – the plain pattern really let the beautiful yarn shine through. Great choice!!

  3. Amy

What lovely socks! Nothing wrong with showing green in the blue month…most of the time we see more than one color at a time. :)

  4. gleek

sweet georgia’s yarn rocks! those colors are so perfect for that sock. simple stockinette really shows it off. i love those blue tights and brown shoes. too cute!

sorry to hear that your camera bought the big one. what are you getting to replace it?

  5. anne

You mean it’s not still May? Oh no.

Love the blue and brown together.

  6. Norma

The socks look great Lolly! Stinks to hear about your camera…there is a light at the end of the tunnel if it is coming in on Tuesday. I am addicted to our digital. Tusband just bought a video one on Thursday. It has been fun with that one so far, randomly filming lunch time and walks in the neighborhood…

    Love You!

Oh…what lovely, lush, green socks! They are perfect, Lolly. I cannot wait to see ‘Carla’ once finished (and knowing you, it won’t be so very long a wait). For not having a camera, those blue photos are cool, but I especially love your shoes (what girl doesn’t love shoes?).

Here’s to the new camera arriving at top speed! xo

Nice looking socks. I love the yarn and the toe and heel came out just perfect!
The Waikiki Acquarium was one of my favorite places as a child (yikes almost half a century ago!) and the baby squids, chambered nautilus and jellyfish are such great exhibits. Your pictures are really cool.

  13. Ragan

Your green socks make me green with envy! They are wonderful. You must have used the TINY needles, they look so awesome!!! I enjoyed looking at your blue pics from last year, and I look forward to seeing the new ones for this year (along with progress on your Carla).

Those socks are beautiful! What a vibrant green! And of course, thanks for sharing the jellyfish picture. :)

  15. Lucy

Looked like a little teeny tiny bit of blue in those socks…..so I’ll forgive you for posting green…just kidding! They look great!

  16. isel

Lollyyyyy, why??? I forgot to bring my camera. Boooo-hooo. I was so upset.
Still, I had a great time at the museum. It was also my first visit.
What a great place; the pieces upstairs were incredible.

I used to do bobbin lace when I was little, so that demonstration brought back a lot of memories.

I should’ve gone Saturday, there was more stuff going on that day. Oh, well.

    The anklets look absolutely perfect.

  17. Nonnahs

Super cute green anklets! And, I love the blue jellyfish photo!

  18. Jenna

It’s good to know that you have a stash of color-appropriate photos on hand, and that they’re lovely to boot. I love the anklets, too. You’re right in saying that the colors are saturated, I love those deep, rich shades.

Thanks for a great time yesturday! Be sure to show some of those photos, too.

  19. beverly

  22. Jennifer

    Lovely green socks!

I love the Carla pattern too. I scored some cotton tape on Elann, and want to use it for either Carla, or that cute long cardigan in that book.

  23. Heather

I love, love, love that green!!! I have been such a bad project spectrum participant… love the idea of it though!

  33. threadingwater

Lovely socks and photos, but the blue flowers aren’t phlox. They’re forget-me-nots and one of the most charming and captivating garden blues to be found anywhere.

  34. Stacey

The anklets are great! I love the heels (as I run to look up the pattern)…Blueandbrown – also one of my faves! I’ll have to find that Tape Thing book – I want to do something with my Linen print! I only have about 550 yds of it though….

Those jellyfish are SO BLUE! My eyes almost hurt looking at it! Brilliant!
