…And the Winners Are… (updated again!)

Published by lolly at 12:48 am under Admin

The whole prize portion of Socktoberfest was a continuation of last year - we had several generous donations from many stores and individuals in 2005. However, the biggest difference is that last Socktoberfest, we had 300 people. This year, we nearly tipped the 2000 mark! That is a BIG difference in terms of the administration!

Now it is confession time: this is the part of Socktoberfest that I woefully neglected. For some reason, I was just hoping it would come together magically… and it didn't! I received SO many emails offering donations, and I have to say, I could not handle them all. I left several emails unanswered, and for that, I am very sorry. However, several prizes were confirmed, and can gladly be offered up to some lucky winners. So, if you contacted me, and I did not write back AND you are still willing to offer a Socktoberfest prize, please let me know. This time, I will write back. Promise. Cross my heart.

So, without further ado, here are the winners of
the confirmed prizes!**

Congrats to the winners (although I’m sad I’m not on the list). The amount of work and effort you put into this is monumental, especially with everything else going on, so kudos to you for that.

Thank you for running socktoberfest, Lolly! I didn’t get to post much as I was to busy knitting “finger-socks” at my grandson’s request. Seems there are “foot-sock” and there are “finger-socks”!

Congratulations to those who’s names were drawn. I certainly enjoyed seeing everyone’s sock photos.

Lolly…I’ve just sent you my mailing address!

  30. [...] I won!!!  I won!!! On Lolly Knitting Around, winners were announced today for donated items by sponsors of Socktoberfest.  I did several pairs of wee socks for wee  twins, and had my name drawn for a prize.  Sock yarn from The Loopy Ewe.  The items on their website are luscious, and I was drooling at some of the colorways.  My prize went into the mail already, and I should have it by the end of the week.  It was a random drawing, but I prefer to believe it was because of the beauty of the socks I made. I am so totally excited! I almost didn’t even look for my name on the winners list but saw it just a few minutes ago! This is completely unexpected! I throughly enjoyed Socktoberfest and can’t wait until next years!

As a matter of fact, my sit and stitch group has been so enspired by watching me make the socks that tonight I am teaching five of them how to make them! Another KNITTER takes the plung!

    Thanks Again for everything!

Check out my blog…I am trying to get a conversation going with others who are as fanatical about knitting as I am!

    LOLLY, YOU ROCK!

  40. Wandaon 04 Nov 2006 at 1:37 am

Thanks for putting this all together Lolly! Socktoberfest was really so much fun. Congratulations on finishing your exams too! Hope the new opportunity is something wonderful that works out for you.

  41. laurie in maineon 04 Nov 2006 at 3:40 am

Finished 5 pair! 3 were basic socks for hurry-up gifts; I did try the Dublin Bay stitch pattern & Picot tops from tutorial…LOVE that look. Chickened out and whip-stitched the first one from inside. Second one I tried catching the stitches with the next row. Didn’t go so well. By second needle the stitches started to slant like I had them lined up wrong. Will method try again!!

Congrats to the winners. Wrong of me I suppose to hope some of the prizes go back in the hat for another drawing?
I’m coming back to look later, though ;)

  42. Madda79on 06 Nov 2006 at 9:48 pm

thank you for putting this together, can’t wait for next year, I will be practicing and I know I will get better
    Socks are wonderful!
