City by the Bay

Leaving the East Coast for the West Coast City by the Bay!

Kris and I left Maryland at the crack of dawn (before dawn, actually) to travel to California. We will be staying just outside of San Francisco. We have a daytrip planned to Monterey on Friday, will be in SF over the weekend, and then we are heading to wine country for four days!

I am hoping to blog from California, so stay tuned for some of our adventures on the other coast! :)

Have a great trip. Also, that picture just made me awfully homesick on this drear English afternoon. I agree that you may never want to leave. :)

Bon voyage! I am so envious. I’d love to hear about your wine country adventures, I’ve always wanted to do that! And I’m sure you’ll report back on knitterly things too!

  37. Dana

Wow! I was just there a few weeks ago! Running a marathon! Enjoy the city, be sure to eat at a Boudin Bakery (mmmm but don’t count calories). Go to Union Square, Pier 39, Golden Gate Park, Presidio Park, etc.

Have fun! can’t wait to see pictures on your blog. We didn’t have time for yarn when we were there :( Just running.

  38. knittingphilistine

Han fun and hope you brought along Cherie!

  39. The Purloined Letter

Oh, how lovely! Hope you have a wonderful time!

*Sigh* I moved away from SF almost 3 years ago but still miss it nearly every day. I recommend a leisurely stroll through the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park coupled with a visit to the new DeYoung Museum. I used to live about 8 blocks from them. And, in my opinion, no visit is complete without walking at least halfway across the Golden Gate Bridge!

  41. Tammy

Wave hello to all the palm trees for me. =) I miss California! My husband and I live in Michigan, but we moved from California a few years ago. Have fun!

  42. Disentangled

That’s actually pretty close to the itinerary for our next SnB retreat. Have a great time!

  43. Venus

Have fun on your trip! Take lots of pictures!

It’s probably too late, but hey! I live in Monterey! Monarch Knitting and Quilts is our fab LYS.

Totally hit the Aquarium, Lover’s Point in Pacific Grove, and Asilomar State Beach. And hey, if you do manage to get this before heading down here, let me know!

  45. Amanda Cathleen

Hope you have a good time! Can’t wait to hear about your travels :-)

Have a great time! Consider cruising through Sonoma County to visit Alchemy in Sebastopol while you are in California……

  47. Carol

  48. meg

You are going to my favorite Paradise—Monterey! I’m so jealous. Used to live there before I moved to the Pacific Northwest, and I really miss it! San Francisco is the greatest, and wine country as well! Have a great time! However, you might wish you spent more than one day in Monterey/Carmel area when you see it! :)

Bummer it’s going to rain tomorrow morning. I think the rest of the weekend is supposed to clear though.

But I hope you have fun and I think there’s supposed to be a really good yarn store in Monterey. And Art Fibers and Imagiknit in SF are great yarn stores too.
