Ancient Trees

After four beautiful days in San Francisco, Kris and I traveled north to Muir Woods, a National Monument featuring coastal redwood trees. Only seeing pictures of the redwood trees before, I was not fully prepared for the absolute majesty of this ancient forest.

Up a winding road, with the smell of eucalyptus trees all around, Kris and I took a 3-mile hike through the amazing woods. Truly, the pictures do not capture the absolute beauty… but you can try to imagine…

Kris and I arrived safely in Napa Valley – what a lovely drive up! We checked in at our inn, and headed out for a yummy dinner. On Monday, we went to several wineries – taking a tour of the winemaking process, and also doing tastings. It was kind of a nasty day with rain and wind, but we did not let that stop our fun!

I was thrilled that when Kris found a wireless signal here in Napa! More pictures on the way ;)

Napa is gorgeous this time of year have a wonderful time! Auberge du Soleil has an amazing view for a romantic evening (heck the whole place just screams romance to me with the stone buildings and rolling hills)

You look like you’re having so much fun! Thanks for taking us with you – it’s been so long since Matt and I have gone anywhere without the 4 kiddos!

Napa’s incredible! I got a wonderful corkscrew charm for my bracelet from V Sattui! Tra Vigne, Mustards, French Laundry (if you could get in!), Oakville Grocery–and that doesn’t include the wineries–Sterling’s gondola…I could go on! I’m (clearly) so jealous of you! Have a great time

You made it to V. Sattui! I’m so glad. We just made plans for a spa weekend in Napa just after Thanksgiving. Can’t wait!

Isn’t Muir Woods amazing? I was kicking myself for not suggesting that to you – I’m glad you included it in your plans. Such a wonderful place.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Redwoods are so intense. I love them so much.

  20. Beth

Seeing the redwoods is on my list of “things I want to do.” What a fun trip!

Muir Woods is amazing–however, you should definitely go to Yosemite and Sequoia Nat’l Parks someday, and when you do, Muir Woods will seem like some little bunch of trees in comparison. Enjoy Napa!

You are surrounded by such beauty! XXOO

    V. Sattui was my FAVORITE winery of all that I was able to visit when I went to the Napa Valley! Not only because it was so pretty, but the wines were simply the best of all that we tried. We still order wine from them from time to time.

Muir Woods was one of the most spectacular places I’ve ever been. I could not get over just how big the trees were!

It looks like you’re having a great vacation!

  24. JessaLu

    Absolutely breathtaking :o )

  25. Isabelle

WOW!!! It seems you had lots of fun! Those trees are majestuous indeed! I love trees! Your little “escapade” (gate away) reminds me of the fun Hubby and I use to have before we got babies… [sighs]

    Enjoy! :-)

Oh, and don’t forget to make me dream… [giggle]

  26. Jody

V Sattui was my favorite winery! We still recive their catalogue and always buy from them. I think it was the most beautiful place we saw in Napa. I’m so jealous you’re there! I was there last year when I didn’t knit – so I missed all the great yarn shops!!

  27. Moni

oh it looks like fun! I miss the redwood forest! The trees are absolutely magical!

    Happy B-day, Lolly!
