Yarn Tourism

Published by lolly at 11:51 pm under Stash Enhancement, Travel, USA - California

Yarns may not be what brought me to Napa Valley, but I can report they yarns are well-represented here by two lovely shops! On Monday, Kris and I stopped in Muse Yarns and Arts, a large and beautifully-decorated shop with a great selection and lovely artwork, painted by the proprietor’s husband. The shop is located one block off the main drag through Napa Valley, in the small town of St. Helena.

The shop is beautiful and worth a visit if you are in the Valley. I picked up a few balls of Rowan Yarns Classic Cashsoft DK. The colors are not represented very well in this poorly lit photo: they are ivory, burgundy, and a sage green. I got these three with stranded mittens in mind - and the RYC Book Eight.

The Valley is actually very lucky - there are TWO quality yarn shops close by! Yarns on First was closed on Monday, so I was not able to visit their store until Tuesday morning. They are right downtown in Napa, in the Town Center area, near many restaurants and shopping facilities. Kris and I were immediately greeted when we walked in, and I saw the explosion of color - each of the yarns in the shop are arranged by color, and for this Project Spectrum girl, that was an absolute delight!

Yarns on First has amazing yarns - from an impressive sock yarn selection to a full line of Rowan, Berroco, and Noro among many others. They also have a large and impressive section of pattern books and magazines. I had a nice chat with the owner, Connie, while buying 2 balls of Silk Garden Lite (color 2017).

Tomorrow is a special day, and we have made some special plans!

Stay tuned :)
