Habu Yarns for Tunic
I came home with quite a lovely batch after my recent trip to Habu Textiles in New York City. What I didn’t come home with was a backordered kit that arrived on my doorstep yesterday…

This is the yarn from Kit #41 for the Paper Moire and Silk Pullover

Kit #41 Habu Textiles Detail of Tunic Fabric

Once I actually knit this beautiful piece, it will undoubtedly be the most textured item in my closet. It is so unique – you can’t find things like this in clothes stores (well, not many stores…) I think it will be a nice piece to make in the late summer – because brown is part of the Project Spectrum color triad for August and September. This will be a great layered piece and will transition easily into fall and winter.

And the YARN!  The yarn is gorgeous!

The kit includes four yarns: two colors of Tsugumi Silk, and two colors of Paper Moire.

Habu is really doing some unique things with fiber.  Setsuko Torii is the head designer, and she also has a new book out (which is also available in English, according to Habu’s site)  Vanessa got a copy of the book and previewed some of the patterns - beautiful and inspiring!

My Guides through the detox

I received some wonderful emails and supportive comments about my one-week The UltraSimple Diet detox.  I am working through Day Four of the detox program now, and I can recommend it already. I slept so soundly last night and woke up feeling grand!  I am writing more comprehensive notes on PeerTrainer, and also on my Weight Loss page if you want to keep track of the progress.  Mark Hyman, the doctor who developed this diet also set up a PDF companion guide to the book (which holds the meal-by-meal plan).   He just put it up last night – so this is brand new info :)

Ooooh, Habu! Although I like the tiny little pictures on their website, it does not compare to seeing (and trying on) the actual garments in the store! But you know that already. The tunic you picked looks lovely :)
I can’t wait for the Habu book to come out in english next year… Or maybe I’ll just order it in japanese; after all, a chart is a chart, no?

*gorgeous* yarns and kit!! I can’t wait to see your version of the pullover — or for the English translation of the Torii book to come out.

And Yay! for sleeping well and feeling grand. :)

The silk is so beautiful! I like the texture of the kit too. It looks like it will make a pretty and unique garment.

I am really looking forward to seeing how it turns out for you.

Thank you for sharing so much about the detox diet. I am working on eating healthy and exercising more, but am interested in his books. The restrictions put me off however, but I may decide that eating healthy isn’t quite enough for weight loss.

What is it with all of you Habu freaks? Do you think I can go around buying every single beautiful thing you show on your blogs? :D

That thing is going to be fabulous.

I have been having Habu dreams lately… this does NOT help. I wake up in a desperate need to get my grabby little hands on some.

I cannot wait to see this done…

the idea for the diet sounds wonderful – just what I need to get going – the book is on it’s way from the library now!

Interesting yarns. I did a little reading about your detox on your other blog. I did an ayurvedic one day program a few months ago and I felt it helped a great deal. I might have some time to check the book you talk about out tonight as I’m interested in the week long program. Thanks for posting about it!

I am really interested to see how this yarn knits up. Sometimes I think I skip over the more textured yarns as I rely on the stitch and pattern to make the texture.

You are doing so well…I have just spent the last hour or so reading your blog and searching for that detox book in the UK and I have now ordered it! I have also downloaded the pdf file….you are such an inspiration, including your knitting!
