Surplus Soliloquy
I have gained a lot of yarn weight over the past month. New York shops and now Maryland Sheep and Wool.
Just one of the enhancements I picked up Saturday afternoon … Louet Euroflax Linen in a delectable wine color. Eunny told me to get it (evidently she has a huge stash of it), and that was all the push I needed. Planning a skirt with this yarn.
There were deals. Loads of deals. It was all so accessible – right there in front of me. Minty, also known as the girl with no stash, likes to heckle me a bit about the size of mine. Well, heckle some more, because it got a little bigger.
Summer yarn diet ahead. The guilt is setting in.
But I will indulge you with some pictures in the next post – that is if you wanna see
…I have a feeling that losing actual weight from my body will be easier for me than losing yarn weight…

Lovely yarn, what a gorgeous color. It was nice to meet you at MDS&W (at that corner booth near the entrance with my little girl, I’m sure you were greeted by SO many people), and as promised, I’m leaving a comment. Can’t wait to see what else you got that day.
Margaret from Annapolis
Where’d you find the Euroflax? I totally missed it. That skirt will be ADORABLE! It was great to see you, if only for a bit!
Actually, I think stash weight and body weight are inversely proportional. The more I exercise, the less I knit so stash weight remains constant or (gasp!) increases. The more I sit on my butt and knit, the less I exercise so my body weight remains constant or (gasp!) increases. This, I believe, is the ultimate paradox of my life.
oooh – that is some pretty stuff!! at least you will have bunches of stash to choose from to knit this summer!
Very pretty euroflax. I have been wanting to purchse this yarn in this colorway for some time now. A bit much for my budget at the time. Soon though.
I can’t wait to see what other goodies you scored at the festival:)
Mmm, that Euroflax is fun stuff – I just knit a summer tank top in that and I love it, I’m excited to see what you do with it!
Love that Euroflax—the colors are divine! It’s a little spendy for my budget so I’m making a humble hand towel out of one skein of french blue right now. That skirt is going to be gorgeous!
Guilt! I just uploaded a small portion of my stash to Ravelry and I already felt an enormous sense of guilt! And vowed to knit up more of the yarns, especially the sock yarns, ASAP! This is good … I would try to keep a full record of the stash … this would push me to knit more instead of buying more.
can’t wait for the pictures! [*goes to stalk Flickr*]
I can’t believe I didn’t see you…boohoo.
It was a great day, wasn’t it? I needed more sock yarn like a hole in the head but I couldn’t resist!
Sorry to have missed you this weekend. That Euroflax sure looks pretty!
Oh no! Not another yarn pr0n post! Save me! I can’t look! I have to stay away! (I’ll probably be the first one here when you post it…)
*Gorgeous* color!
I saw that linen and was totally scared about what I would knit with it….I am excited that you bought it so that I can see what you make with it. I am swooning for that skirt.
I saw you and Eunny there and wish I had said Hello, but was mid-purchase…and when I turned back, you had moved on. So, here’s my official Sheep and Wool “HI”!
Yeah it’s pretty easy to run faster, but you really can only knit so fast right? Hey maybe crochet is the answer to stash problems – it’s faster and takes more yarn. Alas, rock on with your stash girl! Be PROUD (and knit faster)!
Oh, I’ve had my eye on that particular shade of linen too! But I didn’t know what I would make with it. The IK skirt is a great idea.
It was great to meet you on Saturday (I was with Beth – “Friend” on her blog).
I’ve been following the weight loss blog too and I agree with that Elinor said – before I started knitting I was training for a 1/2 marathon. I actually cast on for my very first scarf the night before.
Since then, I have not run nearly as much as I was doing then, and I have put back on every single pound that I lost during training and I think that they have found a few ‘friends’ along the way.
Keep up the good work!

Awwww, we (the Texas Contingent) missed you at MSWF this weekend!!
I am so sad that your dream did not come true! I so wanted to meet you this past weekend, Little Sir was anxious to meet you too (in his own way). We are going to have to make sure to meet up in Chicago! I have already booked my room!
I love the skirt! You will look absolutely smashing in it.
Amy
Sorry we missed each other this weekend! I can’t wait to see the skirt you make!
Oh, how I love the Euroflax — that color is gorgeous, and the skirt will be smokin’!
Oh yummy….I’ve been wanting to try that stuff forever! Can’t wait to see how the skirt goes!
that color is so unique, that skirt will be perfect for summer and i think the color will actually go well with a lot of colors! you will be a hot tamale!
I have that same Euro-flax. Mine will be a feather and fan shawl.
I LOVE that color.
let us know how you like knitting with the euroflax. it’s beautiful, i want some!
i’m curious to see that euroflax knit up – and it’s an absolutely beautiful color!
Gorgeous yarn!!
Regret? Wanna compare receipts? My God. I wish someone would have stopped me. I think I have enough new stuff from MDSW for a new Yarn Pr0n Friday post everyday from now until the end of the year. I hope so at least. What with the expense. Gah!
I wish I would have run into you. Minty said you were on your way but Trillian42, Arstygal and I ended up checking out the main barn instead of sitting on the grassy knoll any longer. Maybe next year? Who knows!
I’m right there with you on the yarn surplus thing. I need to go through my stash to see what I’ve got going on there, but I’m kinda scared…
Gaining yarn weight is always a good thing!
ummm … yummy indeed! i look forward to the rest of the haul, as i’m enjoying mdsw vicariously.
Regarding exercise and knitting, I have a recumbent exercise cycle and I can knit and ride at the same time. Of course, knitting is a good diet aid for me, because I can’t eat and knit at the same time. (Don’t anyone tell me how they’ve overcome this problem, please.)
Oooo, that is a lovely color.
you could open a store with all your yarn, girl! still shocked over here, can’t resist some heckling. proud of your real weight loss, if yarn weight continues to increase . . .
I would totally buy whatever Eunny told me- haha
That eggplant is just gorgeous!
Don’t let Minty give you a hard time… no stash is just unnatural!!
i’m sorry i missed you this weekend! i have to say though — a linen skirt sounds awesome. now you’ve got me thinking about one myself!
Mmmm…. very pretty yarn! It will make a gorgeous skirt! (Plus, how awesome that the editor of a famous knitting magazine was your personal shopping assistant?)
i can’t wait to hear what you think about the linen. i have only knitted with linen drape from rowan but after reading mason-dixon knitting… well! it seems like the best thing ever. and that color is luscious.
My weight-loss philosophy and motivation is that since patterns require *less* yarn in smaller sizes, once smaller, I will be allowed to purchase *more* yarn to make up the deficit. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?
