Wren’s Pin
Some of you called me out… you said “is that really all you got?” referring to my purchases at Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. All I can say is you know me well. I did get one other thing.
I knew I wanted a shawl pin for my Wren cardigan. In my mind, I envisioned something very simple: a straight chopstick style, preferably in dark brown or black wood or heavy plastic. I looked around online and never saw anything that caught my fancy, although there are some great designs for different garments. On Sunday, day two of the festival, I found the pin I had been thinking of - it was on sale at Cloverhill Yarn Shop’s booth. They had a great variety, and this one was the simplest and the most beautiful to me.
Now I am working on having a finished garment to actually wear the pretty pin with… I completed the back, and the left front of the cardigan, and I am currently working on the right front of the cardigan. The sleeves are the only thing left.
The yarn may not be my favorite, but this cardigan is really knitting up beautifully, no?

I love that shawl pin! It’s perfect!
And yes, the cardi is knitting up beautifully.
Very pretty pin, Lolly.
Is that metallic in your sweater? Are you getting ready for next month already? ;^)
I think that the pin will look wonderful with that colored yarn. It does look very pretty, and I cant wait to see it finished. I loved all your purchases, so jealous as it is too far for me to travel too. Love your mum’s socks too, very nice.
Yes! The pin and the cardigan will be beautiful!
I love the workmanship in the shawl pin.
isn’t it wonderful when you wait to find the perfect thing, and then it just happens along? can’t wait to see this; i bet it’s one of those yarns that just “clicks” when it’s all done.
Ooooh! I like that pin a lot. How did i miss those?
Nice find.
Beautiful pin Lolly. It will be the icing on the cake.
Amy
Great pin! I might need something similar for Arwen. Thanks for all your kind words about it!
Yes! It’s becoming a great fabric! Lovely colours too
And the pin - stunning! The perfect finishing touch
Nice pin! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
We knew you were holding!! Cute pin…
It’s gorgeous and the pin is perfect! I can’t wait to see you in it!
I have been looking for that sort of pin myself…ah, maybe next year… I think that pin will look fabulous in the finished Wren. While the yarn doesn’t look so fun all wound, it looks kismet all knitted up!
It certainly is a lovely fabric. The pin is beautiful, too.
Gorgeous fabric! And the pin goes so nicely with it!
That’s such a pretty pin- what a great find!
I think the color, pattern, and texture of the yarn are coming out so beautifully. I’m not crazy about slippery yarns or sensitive snagging yarns either, but I’ll bet it’s going to be a goreous FO!
Yes, Wren is turning out really nice. I know that feeling…you don’t love the yarn and are surprised as heck to end up with a really cool-looking sweater!
it all looks gorgeous - can’t wait to see it finished and together with the pin!
The pin is perfect. Simple is almost always better. I love the dark colour contrasting beautifully with the brighter colours of the sweater.
Wren is knitting up very pretty.
What a beautiful pin!
despite the problematic nature of the yarn, it is absolutely stunning in that color. i cannot wait til wren is complete and see the total effect with pin and all!
Can’t wait to see it, Lolly. The pin rocks! I wanted to look for pins at the MDSW this year…boo-hoo. Next year, for sure.
Love the green flceks in the pink knitting and that’s a gorgeous stick pin!
What sweet comments and birthday wishes from your blogging friends! I hope Jenna had as nice a birthday as I had.
I love the socks and the beautiful shawl that you gave me for my bd, but I especially loved my day at S&W with you!
I simply adore the Wren and your new ‘pin” will set it off nicely. Good choice, my “swee-swee”! XX00
Wren is going to be gorgeous - nice choice of closure. Can’t wait to see it knitted up!
Lolly, I know that you have had to fight with the fabric on Wren, but it is truly gorgeous and the pin really pulls it together. Good choice.
Can’t wait to see Wren all done up! And I think I need to go looking for a pin like that…
Beautiful buy….it really compliments the sweater and goes well with the yarn (which I really like, by the way!) It looks like it will drape well.
The pin is lovely. Simple and very tasteful!
That pin is the perfect choice! I can’t wait to see it all come together!
