Wren’s Pin

Published by lolly at 8:25 pm under Wren Cardi

Some of you called me out… you said “is that really all you got?” referring to my purchases at Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. All I can say is you know me well. I did get one other thing.

Wren's Pin

Pin's Head

I knew I wanted a shawl pin for my Wren cardigan. In my mind, I envisioned something very simple: a straight chopstick style, preferably in dark brown or black wood or heavy plastic. I looked around online and never saw anything that caught my fancy, although there are some great designs for different garments. On Sunday, day two of the festival, I found the pin I had been thinking of - it was on sale at Cloverhill Yarn Shop’s booth. They had a great variety, and this one was the simplest and the most beautiful to me.

Now I am working on having a finished garment to actually wear the pretty pin with… I completed the back, and the left front of the cardigan, and I am currently working on the right front of the cardigan. The sleeves are the only thing left.

Wren Cardigan Progress

The yarn may not be my favorite, but this cardigan is really knitting up beautifully, no?

    Very pretty pin, Lolly.

Is that metallic in your sweater? Are you getting ready for next month already? ;^)

I think that the pin will look wonderful with that colored yarn. It does look very pretty, and I cant wait to see it finished. I loved all your purchases, so jealous as it is too far for me to travel too. Love your mum’s socks too, very nice.

isn’t it wonderful when you wait to find the perfect thing, and then it just happens along? can’t wait to see this; i bet it’s one of those yarns that just “clicks” when it’s all done.

I have been looking for that sort of pin myself…ah, maybe next year… I think that pin will look fabulous in the finished Wren. While the yarn doesn’t look so fun all wound, it looks kismet all knitted up!

  14. Mandyon 10 May 2007 at 6:08 am

It certainly is a lovely fabric. The pin is beautiful, too. :)

I think the color, pattern, and texture of the yarn are coming out so beautifully. I’m not crazy about slippery yarns or sensitive snagging yarns either, but I’ll bet it’s going to be a goreous FO!

  18. LeAnneon 10 May 2007 at 12:26 pm

Yes, Wren is turning out really nice. I know that feeling…you don’t love the yarn and are surprised as heck to end up with a really cool-looking sweater!
