For my International Scarf Pal
A fun and simple scarf that is now winging its way to my pal in Taiwan. I hope you like it, pal! And I have just enough yarn left over to do a mini-version, maybe with one or two rows of garter stitches. Knit widthwise, this scarf had very long rows with many repeats; but it seemed to move pretty quickly. The ripple stitch was adapted from the Quick and Crafty magazine supplement called Knit! I cast on 200-some stitches and merrily knit along, changing colorways every sixth row. The yarn I used, Cascade Luna, gave the scarf more of a textured look – the yarn itself is beaded cotton, with the ply causing the little bumps (see here). If I had used a mercerized cotton, it would have been smoother, but I don’t mind it, and I hope my pal doesn’t either!
The colors are quite mesmerizing – makes me wish I was at the beach right about now!

Cute! Bet your pal likes it a lot.
I am not as happy with this section’s colours as last. I had so much fun with pink, yellow and green. I used to wear a lot of red, but never anymore. Maybe this would be a good time to knit a red scarf for the red scarf project. I did recently buy some yarn with black striping in it. Metallics…eh.
I love the different blue tones in this scarf. I’m sure your pal will love it!
Those blues are beautiful. I love how they look all together.
The blues are fantastic! Your pal will love it
That is so cute! Your pal is sure to love it.
Pretty! Lucky pal! I haven’t yet participated in a swap. I get tempted — then scared (what if my pal doesn’t like it? what if I don’t receive anything in return? etc.). One of these days, I’ll do it. In the meantime, I’ll admire swap objects like yours!
Such a cute scarf. I love the combination of the textured yarn with the stitch.
I love the colors and the idea of knitting the chevrons lengthwise. If you haven’t sent it off yet, would you be able to show a picture from a bit more distance… maybe on somebody? It’s hard to get a sense of scale and proportion from the close up pictures, but they definitely show the beauty of the scarf!
Lovely scarf! the colors are so calming

Those are fantastic summery colors. It makes me want to go swimming!
It looks great! I think the textured yarn works really well and gives it more depth than mercerized cotton would have. I’m sure you’re pal will love it!

It turned out great! I love how you knit it lengthwise, it really adds to the scarf!
