Weekend at Mimi’s
I will be driving south this afternoon for a long weekend
with my little sister, Mimi.

Mimi
She lives in a very quaint little town on the coast of North Carolina. We have plans to hike and bike some of the areas we discovered during my last trip, and explore more of the historic parts of the town. I am hoping for some nice photography weather… because I have a secret finished knit to photograph on its intended recipient!
My Whiby socks are making the trip with me… and I will spend my drive contemplating my next sweater project… I am a little disallusioned with the camisole I recently started (the row gauge is drastically off) and for some reason, my mind is thinking about warm wooly stashbusting projects.

I have the yarn for all of these… which one should I pick?
Click to see details and yarn choices!

I vote for Aftur! I also have yarn in my stash for a similar sweater. Can’t wait to start it!
I also vote for Aftur. I think it’s SO pretty. It would look great on you.
I can’t decide between either Easy Street Pullover or Nordic Memories!
De-lurking to vote for the Von Tunic because it is lovely and looks like it would be so cozy (and it is a rainy day here so cozy jumpers seem ideal at the moment).
I’m voting for Easy Street - that will look awesome in Malabrigo. Maybe the supersoft and squooshy yarn will make up for knitting with wool in July?
I vote for Von! Von! Von! Love that sweater!
I vote for Nordic Memories, which would show off your new figure very nicely, especially if you make the adjustments in the pattern that you described. The Von Tunic is beautiful, but I think you would feel as though you were wearing a blanket or hiding in a tent.
What a great picture of you! You are looking great, keep up the good work!
Aftur!!!! (or Nordic Memories) love them both! Syncopated Ribs - I had this one also on my list for a while, but couldn’t decide if it would be flattering or not….Have a great time!!!
Artfur, hands down. That is gorgeous.
Dawn: that is my sister!
Aftur was my first choice, but I can sooo see you looking magnificient in that tunic…
not that you would not look magnificent in everything…
I Vote for the VON Tunic! Please I’m dying for someone else to start it too!!!:)
I like them all! Sorry, I realize that’s no help.
They are all beautiful, but my favorites are Aftur and Nordic Memories.
Enjoy your weekend!
Well, if you ask me, I will , course Artfur, but I am all about the Fair Isle right now! The last one is gorgeous, too. ^^
I love the Easy Street Pullover! I’d probably knit it a little longer for myself. The indigo would look fantastic!
I hope you’ve got A/C!
I’d pick Aftur if it were me.
I really, really want to see Nordic Memories knit up! I’ve had that one on my “someday” queue since I first saw the pattern. I’m sure I’ll make it eventually, but I’d love to live vicariously first.
I vote for Nordic Memories! Have a nice weekend with Mimi!
I’d do the Patons pattern knit in Malabrigo if it were me. But I’ve never done colourwork before so I’m a big phobic of it…I’d really like to see the colour combo you’ve picked for Aftur…and I think the IK Winter 2003 colourwork sweater will look great on you! Especially with the mods you’re planning.
But I really like them all! I love seeing what other people plan on knitting!
I vote for Nordic Memories. Have a fun weekend with sis!
ahem. how about starting 2 of them? (gasp). you have lovely shaping and stockinette on one (Von Tunic), fun colorwork on two (Artfur and Nordic memories), and some fancy stitchwork on the other two. I would want to start Von Tunic for sure, plus one of the others… and i would vote for artfur.
For you? I vote for Door #2, Aftur.
I can’t wait to see how that Von Tunic turns out!
i vote for syncopated ribs!
wow, all great choices, but I agree with the other Meg
Love the cables of Easy Street (and I would also do it longer for myself) - but of course, I would probably go with pink or red because those are my favs
btw - great interview the other day! Rock on!
I vote Aftur all the way! Of couse the others are nice too…
I loved knitting the Syncopated Ribs, and for weekend visit knitting, it’s not too taxing on the brain. It knits up fairly quickly because of the generous needles. Don’t know much about the others!
sounds like an excellent weekend planned–the weather will be hot but you’ll want to be outside. I think it’s time for some colorwork . . . second from left or second from right both seem right. Have a safe trip!
i’ve got to get my vote in for Aftur, i love that one.
have a great time with your sister!
Oooh, coastal North Carolina? I’m so jealous! (I grew up down in NC, but haven’t been back in a really long time).
My vote’s for Syncopated Ribs (though I see no one else is voting for it, so I guess I’m a freak!). I love the look of that sweater, and the yarn you’re planning to use for it looks gorgeous.
Have fun in NC, and let me know if you find any other yarn stores nearby.
I vote for the Patons Easy Pullover.
They are all great choices! But I vote for syncopated ribs - I’ve been loving that one since I saw Heather’s - it’s great, you gotta love that unique shoulder detail!
I vote for Nordic. Fall days will be here before we are ready for them and that looks like the perfect fall sweater.
I hope you have a great time with your sister.
another vote for nordic coming your way. like you i’ve always loved that pattern!
I vote for the cable knit in the last picture. It will look beautiful in the Malabrigo.
Easy Street! Easy Street! I made this and it went really quick and I’ve almost worn holes in the thing! Well, that’ll never happen as I made it with acrylic, but still. It’s the most worn sweater I’ve made. And out of MMMmalabrigo, Shut the eff up!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Aftur!!!
Have a wonderful time with MIMI! She looks so much like you!
Nordic Memories or Syncopated Ribs. SR because I’ve been wanting to make it for a long, long time, but I’m not sure how the fit will work out (so I vote you be my guinea pig!), and NM because I would love to make something simple in colorwork like that. I haven’t done any big color work yet…. tons of mittens, but no sweaters. And I think I’d make similar adjustments to what you’ve suggested.
I love them all, I say what the heck, cast ‘em all on!
Are you saying that you don’t look like Mimi? I had to laugh when reading your post back to Dawn………
Okay, I suppose the Nordic would be my vote just because I want to knit one next. Next being when I get into the Retirement Home the way things are going……………………………
hope your weekend is fab!
I think the Easy Street Pullover in the yarn you have will be GORGEOUS!
Have fun with your sister! It sounds like it’s going to be a great trip!
Hey, it’s a good thing I am on vacation this week or I might have stalked you at while you were here! tee hee.
BTW, I would say go with Aftur or with Nordic. Those are lovely!
Oooh Nordic Memories!
Have a great time with your sister this weekend.
Aftur!
Easy Street gets my vote…I love NC and am planning a trip there next summer……..
Diane
aftur! aftur!
i love that… though they’re all beautiful (and a couple are on my list too… #1 and #5!)
When I first saw the pics I thought Von, but then I did a closeup and decided Aftur WITH the matching bag - looks like fun! The gorgeous tunic would make a great winter knitting project.
have a great trip. I vote for Syncopated Ribs. I love the construction of it and the yarn looks soft.
the others: I worked with Lopi, and while I loved the end result- I would not pick it up in the summer, unless I lived in Iceland.
I’ve awarded you with a Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award!
I vote for Sync. Ribs because I think the construction would be interesting enough to counteract with the boredom of knitting ribs. I would like to see some real world knitting on this one.
Sad to hear about the cami. Which way is the gauge going? Would it be an easy fix with a change of needle size? Maybe there is something else wrong with it.
It’s so hard when you have a crush on a pattern which later turns out to be a bad love affair! My first crush was on Banff. I was new to seaming and that’s what killed it for me. Since the pattern was a Raglan it showed off my inability to seam. I’ve had a little practice on seaming since then, so I’m thinking about busting it out of the UFO pile and re-seaming it to see if I can make amends.
OMG, I love the Lopi sweater. In fact, the kit for it is sitting in my closet. Maybe if you start knitting it, I will too?
Nordic Memories… it seems like the best for fall weather.
Nordic Memories…I am knitting this in Jamison and I love it, but it’s taken a back seat to many many socks…..I need a motivator!!
I vote for Easy Street Pullover. I am a big fan of Malabrigo and the combo will be fabulous! Happy Knitting.
I vote for the sweater that is second from the left. I like that one best.
