Thank you so much for your comments and supportive words. Kris and I were in the Lima Airport at the time of the earthquake last night – and it was one of the scariest experiences I have had in my life. Scarier than the earthquake was the hour and half separation from Kris… but, we found each other finally, with the help of many along the way. I am so thankful to the wonderful people of Peru who helped us in so many ways throughout the whole ordeal.  My heart opens up to the families who have lost loved ones and who have suffered loss.

We just arrived home after hours and hours of travel from Lima, to Miami, and finally home to DC.

After a good rest, I will be ready to talk about it.

Thank you for the love, we truly felt it~

I am so glad that you are safe. As a San Franciscan who has experienced several big earthquakes (including the 1989 Loma Prieta quake), I can relate to your trauma. Be good to yourselves over the next few months and don’t dismiss the possibility of post-traumatic stress disorder. I’m here if you ever want to talk.

Oh Lolly, I am so very glad to hear that you and Kris are safe. I thought of you immediately as soon as I heard about the earthquake. Take your time processing it – you don’t have to say anything more, it’s just great to hear that you are both home safe.

oh my – i’m glad you made it home… earthquakes that big are none to sneeze at, especially in a city with not the greatest infrastructure in place… my heart goes out to all those who were lost or injured.

Hi, I don’t think I’ve delurked before (not sure) . I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now and thought of you when I heard the news. Glad to hear you and your husband are safe and back home!

Glad to hear you are home safe and sound. It must have been a terrifying experience.

I’m kind of freaking out as my cousin is leaving for Lima this coming Saturday eventually heading to Chinchero.

Wow, Lolly. I am so proud of you for your presence of mind, and everybody else’s. I live in Minneapolis, and there was a similar coming-together when the I-35W bridge collapsed here a couple of weeks ago. I’m always amazed and comforted by how people come together and help each other despite their own lives being in danger. You overcame language barriers and panic to find your husband again, and helped other people in the process. I’m so glad you’re safe, and so glad Rosara was there to help you, too.

You know you were the first person I thought of when I saw that news yesterday morning! I am so glad to hear that you both are O.K.

What is really crazy about your travels being top of mind… that I totally forgot that my husband has a cousin that lives in Peru! Thank God she is also fine!

Oh, Lauren, I’m in tears! I can’t imagine how you and Kris must have felt being apart from each other. Or how your mother must have felt! I’m so happy that you two are alright and that you’re home and able to start processing this whole thing. I would have been a wreck that whole flight home, I tell ya.
