2008 was my first time participating in Project Spectrum, though I’ve followed it for a the previous year. I only followed through on the first element, but I liked the elements idea. I wouldn’t mind repeating it.

Lolly~’08 was my first time participating in PS and I really love the project and the elements theme but would love to do something different this time. I did think the 2 month time line was great, the only concern I have at starting this later in the year is that many people have a ton of holiday crafting that may end up making the last months of the year difficult for some. Anyhoo, I love the idea of working with color interaction such as the complementary color idea. I also loved the suggestion I saw somewhere of working with the colors associated with the Chakras. Whatever it ends up being based on, I plan on participating and telling friends about it too.

I was just checking in on the Flickr group to see if you had plans up for 2009, and eventually ended at this post. 2008 was the first time I did Project Spectrum, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. However, I found the format to be very workable. The 2 month time blocks did seem a bit short at times, but I also liked that this wasn’t a year-long project. I didn’t end up blogging or flickr-posting all my PS-related projects, but I did use the color/element structure to challenge myself to work outside my comfort zones. (For example, I do some pottery, but have some favorite glazes that I rarely go beyond. But I challenged myself to try new ones, in the spirit of project spectrum. And I tried new things [ATCs, needlefelting]. Stuff like that.)

Loved the elements theme, just sorry I dropped off towards the end, too many distractions I think! Beautiful photos above. Two months seemed a long time for the first block but then flew by for the last two blocks! It’s a wonderful project and however you organise the next one I’m sure it will be fabulous.

This is my second time participating in Project Spectrum, and while I really love seeing what everyone else is doing, I just haven’t been doing a very good job of participating, myself. I think part of the problem for me is that the two month blocks flew by so quickly! I did really like the elements theme, but I also love Laura’s suggestion of using the seasons (both for scheduling purposes and for color themes, perhaps?).

well this is my third PS and as always i start out strong and then lose a little steam (which is how i am in life so it’s no fault of the project). anyway, i enjoyed the theme of elements and found “air” to be particularly challenging … until i got to august, the first “water” month and then i all i knit were greys and neutrals. so water got the short stick this time around.

i thought 2 months was just perfect.

i think taking a turn with complementary colors for PS4 would be fun. or get more involved with color theory concepts such as different shades, tints, etc.

I would love complimentary colors for the next round!

Seeing everyone’s work in terms of elements was so inspiring. I loved the idea of looking at the world through the lens of color as well as these elements around us.

I really enjoyed the longer time frame for each element. I actually managed to finish somethings in time!

I loved the color groupings – I think this gives more opportunity to work with a group of colors – rather than just one. There would always be at least one color I liked in each group.

lolly, i didn’t participate, so i can’t give you too much input, but i loved the elements format. i thought it was very creative! good luck with PS4! i can’t wait to see what you come up with.
