Autumnal Inspirations
Yesterday morning, I awoke early to prepare for my 7:45am yoga class. The early morning hours are truly my favorite of the day – I feel like I am experiencing something special. My thoughts were confirmed when I walked out of my front door and headed to the studio.
The crisp morning air. The pink sun rays across the sky as the sun rose above the horizon. An errant leaf falling from the oak tree in the front yard.
This is my favorite time of year. I am taking my time to enjoy every moment. Instead of rushing to my car to drive away, I gazed up at the sky and took a deep breath. This is the “something special” I was referring to. My neighborhood was still asleep – very few cars on the road. I got to see all of this beauty for myself! and I felt so lucky to experience it.
We have been making the most of this season – a few weeks ago, we headed to Larriland Farm again to pick raspberries and apples. These yellow raspberries are especially delicious – slightly sweeter and more honey-flavored than the regular ones.
The berries are frozen for future use, and the apples were peeled and cored for the dehydrator. The apple chips (soaked in lemon juice with a touch of cinnamon before dehydration) were a hit, and the 60 apples we had 2 week ago are now down to a single baggy. Looks like we need to go back and pick some more!
The real celebration this autumn will happen next Saturday, October 18th. My sister, Sarah, will be getting married! The time has flown by so quickly. The last few weeks before the event were filled with bridal showers, wedding preparations, and dress fittings. Kris and I are both in the wedding, so I am hoping that we can still get some photos… definitely at the reception! Sarah chose a lovely autumnal color palette (remember mom’s wreaths?). The bridesmaid dresses are an olive green, and many of the flowers and decorations will have oranges, reds, and browns.
My family and friends will be coming in this week before the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. It will be so wonderful to see everyone! The last time that everyone was together was at my sister Mimi’s wedding in 2005.
As you can imagine, this is going to be a busy week before the wedding, but I do hope to steal a few minutes to knit a few rows on my socks and to take a few photos to share with you!

You must be really looking forward to this week to come – have a wonderful time with your family!
That is a gorgeous dress! Who designed it? (I’m hunting for bridesmaid dresses next week, and love the silhouette of yours!)
What an exciting time! The bridesmaid’s dress is beautiful; I love the idea of an autumnal colour palette for an autumn wedding. Your photos are stunning too.
I have the same feeling about something special in early mornings. I love to get up early when I can, to experience the world while everyone else seems to be asleep. Congratulations to your sister. It sounds like the wedding will be beautiful.
Hi, great pictures again!
Have a great week, enjoy being together with all your family!
I hope the golden sunshine will bring great light to all the happenings!

I have never heard of or seen yellow raspberries before. When I first saw the picture I thought you changed a picture of regular raspberries in Photoshop.
All my best to your sister next weekend. It will be a fun and exciting weekend. The 18th is my wedding anniversary too!
I’m an early morning person too, especially at this time of year. Looks like you’re really making the most of it too.
I hope you manage to get lots of photographs of the wedding. I’m dying to see all the autumnal themed decor as I loved your mum’s wreaths so much.
that dress is a wonderful color for you. iLOVE weddings–have a great time.
Love your descriptions of fall mornings – I enjoy them so much too, even though I am usually admiring the sunrise over the water and the leaves changing while I am already driving to work. Have fun at the wedding!
YELLOW raspberries? I have been missing out on a colourful variation of my favourite fruit!! I don’t suppose they’[re very easy to find in Canada, as I am a huge berry lover and never even knew these existed. Thanks for alerting me; have a great week!
Those yellow raspberries are really tempting! I hope I’ll be able to find and taste some one day.
Enjoy your time with your family. Best wishes to your sister and her future husband!
That’s a very lovely shade of green. I have never heard of yellow raspberries. I should go check them out.
I can definitely relate to the feeling you experienced that morning, I just LOVE this season so much. Right now the leaves are really turning here, I really need to go outside and take pictures of it all! I just wish I had the self discipline to wake up as early as you without having to rush off to school immediately.
Hard to focus on such a tiny little creature, I bet!
And although I love autumn, I am not very excited about the impending darkness that comes with the winter, living so close to the Arctic. It makes it hard to wake up in the morning! Darkness tells the body it’s time to sleep! But the cold is lovely, a time for woolly handknitted garments.
I am absolutely in love with your photo of the yellow raspberries, you captured that ladybug moment beautifully.
Oh, and congratulations on your sister! Happiness and prosperity to her and you and your family.
The bridesmaids dresses are such a gorgeous colour.

I hope all goes well at the wedding.

I don’t think I have ever seen yellow berries. They look so good! Hope the wedding go’s well, I had a fall wedding its the best time of the year.
Those berries are just a perfect fall colour. I am glad you got to enjoy them. Continue taking in the pleasures that come with the season!

Your sis couldn’t pick a better time of year to get married, its so beautiful! Have a grand time
That is the prettiest shade of green! Have a great time at the wedding!
I’m not as big of an autumn fan as some because I don’t really like the cooling temps, but I do have to say I’m trying to enjoy it this year. Fall rolled in while we were away on vacation, and it’s been lovely to come back and see the lovely colors of the leaves and the beautiful skies. I will try to be like you and savor these sweet moments before winter comes.
I hope you have a great time with your family during the wedding! I’m sure that you and your sisters will look absolutely beautiful. Besos!
I hope you had a blast at the wedding!
