I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who enjoys winding yarn into cakes! It is such a peaceful process, and for handpainted yarn it is neat to see how the mix of colors changes as the skein turns into a ball. I have a tabletop swift and I love it.

I so enjoy winding skeins into balls too. Even more so that I now have a swift instead of tormenting my teenagers, lol. I used to wind one ball at a time, but not with the right equipment it's a blast to wind a whole project. :)
Your photos are gorgeous!

I also love the yarn winding process. It gets you in the mindset to start on project and be excited for it. the gray and orange do look nice together, but they're no grellow...

So lovely! There is something very satisfying about a well wound cake ... complete in itself and ready for knitting.

Ooh Honeycomb! I've been yearning to knit a vest for months but could never settle on a pattern - something classic, that would go with everything and had a little something special to it. I'm flipflopping between Honeycomb and the Back to School U-Neck vest by Stefanie Japel. I look forward to reading about your experience with this pattern!

You are right, those colours look great together!
Your sister's vest will be gorgeous. I recently saw a Honeycomb in progress (made from handspun, no less!) and I thought the pattern makes a really nice texture.

I have yarn cakes sitting around my craft room just begging to be knit up. I can't wait to get started on them. :)
