Oh my goodness, that last photo is adorable. I love their expressions! And glad to have you joining the YIP project. I’ve been having fun with it so far, for sure!

  2. Hilary

    Very cool!

And that is some of the strangest and most hilarious graffiti I have ever seen.

  3. Lisa

Oh, your girls are just wonderful! And they know exactly how to “work it”!

  4. Yarndude

Wow, what an ambitious project! I’ll be sitting by the sidelines cheering you on. I attempted the same thing at the beginning of the year, but I don’t think I made it through the first week. I’m sure it’ll become easier once it becomes a habit.

  5. Suvi

I’ve been thinking of doing the YIP too. I tried to take self portrait every day, but I ran out of ideas and it became a bit boring.
    Love the last pic!

I hope you find the process as much fun, as illuminating, as telling as I did. I found so many little moments to capture. So much that would have slipped from my mind without the image to jog it – like the orange we’d grated for zest for Christmas cookies that somehow sat in the sun on the frozen deck in January with a sudden and surprising beauty: here.

I have been thinking of trying again. In paradoxical way, being an observer, a photojournalist of the small moments of my life, has made me far more participatory and mindful.

Your photos are dear! Is Kris really sleeping? Reminds me of your first birthday pictures. The picture of the girls belong on a milk carton. they are a hoot! XXOO

Ah, it ate my link. The photo of the orange is at this address:

I’ve been thinking about doing a self-portrait 365 starting Sunday (my birthday), but I fear it will grow tiresome rather than being an interesting project. YIP may be a better choice. Yours so far are great. Thanks for the inspiration!

Great pics! Love the “Chicken Sucks”! And your hubby sleeping at the dinner table! Keep it up. They are all fun to look at!

lolly, i’m so glad you started the project again! i know you love photography, so i have no doubt you can keep it up :) love that fifth photo of kris, haha!

  12. LittleWit

How do you get such great shots of yourself up close? Every time I try to take take a picture of myself my face gets very long and oval. I actually just started the YIP on Sept 4th as well. :) What a coincidence!

  13. Kirsten

I love the “Chicken Sucks, Nuggets Rule” photo! Hysterical!
I tried YIP, but it seems I don’t have the self discipline to post a photo every day. Alas. I will be keeping track of your efforts though. You take such wonderful photos.

  14. Brianna

    These are brilliant.

  15. Leslie

What an excellent project! Thanks for blogging about it. I *love* the photo of your dogs!

  16. whitney

I love your photos so much, so I’m quite excited to hear you’re doing YIP! That graffiti is hilarious.

great photos – love the one of you two at the table! I have been thinking of doing something similar – 365 days of just me would not happen, but this is a much more approachable idea.

  18. Leslie

I started my 365 on January 1 and I’ve managed to keep going! There have been days when it’s really hard and days when it was easy. I AM looking forward to the end, though, so I can feel free to skip a day when I feel like it!

  19. Tara

I started YIP on my first day of self-employment (July 7th) and have been trying to keep it going as a record of my first year living what I love.

Your photos are gorgeous and a fabulous start!

This photo project sounds more interesting the the self-portrait version to me as well. I look forward to seeing the year of Lolly. The doggies are so cute in that last picture!

  21. Chandler

Congratulations on the new project! I think that as you look back you’ll be so glad you did it, because you’ll have this amazing narrative of your life to look at. So keep it up!

I’m in the middle of a similar project, except with daily drawings instead of photos. I’m 2/3 of the way through Year 2 (of a 5 year project)…and it’s TOUGH! I’m barely keeping up with penciling things in, let alone finished drawings, but I’ll get there. And one of these days I’ll blog about it…

  22. Jenna

Yay, I am glad you’re taking the plunge! You’re already such a talented photographer, I’m sure your images will be varied and interesting and beautiful and an honest reflection of your life. Hopefully, Kris will cooperate a bit better, too :) Good luck, it’s a challenging project but you’ll be amazing!

  23. Gudrun

Oh I’m totally going to join you on this Lolly! I didn’t manage to stick with photos of myself either…but this sounds a lot more manageable and I need to get to know my camera better!
Love what you have so far!

  24. Jennifer

Oh – everyday pictures are so wonderful. They really show us what’s going on. They’re also the stuff that never gets photographed, yet is the basis of most our memories. Just love ‘em. Thanks for sharing a peak inside your everyday life with us.

  25. Rebekah

Good luck on your photo taking this year! I’ve always wanted to try this.

  26. tiennie

Now this is a project that I think I could do. Love the photos!
