I decided to go to the New York Sheep and Wool festival a few months ago. I guess I wanted to see how it compared to the Maryland Sheep and Wool festival that is (essentially) in my back yarn. It’s always something I had wanted to see and do, and this was the first year it worked out time-wise. I traveled and stayed with a lovely group of friends in a quirky yet charming little cottage down by the river. I met more people than I will be able to remember – friends old and new – and it was exciting and overwhelming and surreal all rolled into one.
(My housemates! L-R Mai, Anne, Carrie, Charlie, Kate, Em, Kelly)
We didn’t have water for 16 hours of our stay (not good!) but we made it work. We ended up getting our water turned back on after a series of ridiculous events (involving calling the landlords’ parents!) Who controls water with a *light switch*?
… Then we fested …
Friends from Ravelry, Twitter, Flickr and the ol’ blog days – it’s amazing how vibrant our little community is!
And after a little rest and some sustenance, we were right back at it for the big Ravelry party that night. Goodness me.
Wonderful pleasure to meet so many new friends (in real life!) and to see so many old friends.
Can we do this every weekend?
