A return to the elements of knitting – yarn, needles, and elementary garter stitch. Such satisfaction and joy in simplicity. I could continue to wax philosophical about it… suffice it to say, this is the perfect kind of knitting for me right now. It came to me at just the right time.
Square #1 complete – 33% – layers of squares constructed on top of each other. Not only is is a fabulous fingering weight stash bust, but it is producing some that I love to look at.
Square #2 underway – 33%. Squares of Cherry Tree Hill, Koigu, Louet, built one on top of the other.
I feel like a knitting architect.
It looks lovely! The idea of picking up all those stitches makes me shake though so probably not the right project for me, I’ll stick to crochet blankets for now!

I love these. I hope my Albers shawl looks half so good (I didn’t do a gauge swatch and my center square is way bigger than listed even though I’m using a smaller needle size).

Lovely! I love your sense of color, I really enjoy watching your projects grow, not just this blanket! I have recently discovered a book called “Mindfull knitting” from Tara Jon Manning (No, I am not paid to advertise it!) and have since decided to knit a garter stitch blanket made up of mitered squares… It is so liberating to knit garter stitch! Maybe you have already read the book, but if not I think you would enjoy it! It is about how knitting can be used as a mindfullness meditative practise and it has greatly enhanced my life, so I just wanted to share!

I’m making an Albers Cowl also and am just finishing the last color on my first block. All of mine is KPPM that I bought at Purl Soho with Kay Gardiner. I am loving it as a carry-around knit for a nice change from socks.

amazing. i sooo sympathize with your love for stockinette. i’m knitting a similar blanket at the moment and am enjoying it so much! for me, knitting is about the process just as much as (if not more than) the product.
Love your color choices here—I think Josef would be proud! I wonder if there’s a weaving equivalent to the Albers cowl…then it would bring Anni into the mix as well!
